In 2021, Hadi Abdul planted the seed for what would become VoiceWorks. Drawing on his years of debate, public speaking and advocacy, he sketched out a bold vision for a youth‑led communication access initiative that could reach young people wherever they are.
The first VoiceWorks program launched in 2022 under Hadi Abdul’s leadership. Together with a dedicated team, he began piloting inclusive speech curricula in North Carolina schools and forged partnerships with nonprofits and youth organisations across the state.
By 2023, Hadi Abdul had become a sought‑after speaker. He delivered keynotes at 4‑H events, led interactive sessions at local nonprofits and spoke before youth commissions across North Carolina. VoiceWorks’ impact grew through workshops, panels and inspiring presentations at schools and community events throughout the state.
In 2024, VoiceWorks went global. Hadi Abdul and his team travelled to four different countries to run immersive communication workshops, collaborating with international NGOs and raising over $15 000 in travel stipends to make these experiences accessible. The tour broadened the initiative’s perspective and sparked new cross‑border partnerships.
2025 marked the year Hadi Abdul delivered a powerful TEDx talk on inclusive communication. Today, VoiceWorks continues to expand, introducing digital resources, mentoring programmes and international collaborations that empower ever‑growing numbers of youth to find and share their voices.
